firt class product July 24, 2008 micky jo (Belfast) 134 out of 138 found this review helpful
I purchased a Bosch 24volt which lasted 13 months before packing in with white smoke coming out of it. It was just out of warranty. It had been used no more than 30 times to put up pictures etc. I then tried the newer lighter 18v Bosch but found it to be unable to even wind down the stabilizers on my new caravan so I returned it. I then took a bit of a chance and spent the extra £20 to purchase this 18v drill in the hope that it would be stronger than the 18v Bosch.
I studied the battery power, the rpm, the drill power etc and on paper there was not much in it, except the Dewalt was described as a professional product. In practice there is little comparision. The Dewalt's power is extrordinary. It was fit to lift the 1.5 ton caravan in the air. the extra weight of the drill feels that you are holding somthiing made of metal not plastic like both Bosch.
Seriously, if you are looking for a drill for DIY this is it. End of story.
Dewalt saves life March 9, 2009 T. Hammond (Essex, England) 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
Deliberated for ages over committing (for me) a lot of money on a new cordless drill. I have had a bad experience with all my previous cordless drills - POWER is the main issue... This Dewalt DC7 18 V has restored my faith in cordless ability. It feels and works like a professionals tool. Its not light but the weight is really well balanced between body and battery. Battery life is good. Torque needs to be played with and you may just have to "loosen off" a screw with half a turn before introducing the Dewalt. I am building my own extension and often dont have power on so this tool is my best friend. Recommend it to serious DIY'ers.
Great drill. Just what I wanted and a bargain. April 5, 2009 Alex Cornwall (South Yorkshire) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I needed a QUALITY, versatile drill that I could use for everything except for drilling masonry. This looked like a bargain and I'm very pleased with it :o)
It is very powerful for a cordless drill - not always the case as I know from experience. It's very quick and easy to change bits. It has variable torque and the sensitive trigger allows perfect control of drilling speed - brilliant for putting screws in tight holes.
If you want a quality cordless drill I whole heartedly reccomend this one - AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN AT THIS PRICE.
I bought the 90 piece accessory kit to go with it which was well worth the money as buying all the bits separately would cost a fortune - the drill does not come with accessories. There is an excellent selection in there and I don't expect to buy any drill/driver bits for a while. There were even some masonry bits in there.
At last a battery that holds it's charge! April 20, 2009 E. Moodie (Stirlingshire, Scotland) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Over the years I have purchased several cordless drills for DIY. Every time I went to use them I would have to wait an hour while the battery charged up. This Dewalt keeps it's charge until the job is completed and still has life left to tackle the next one. Excellent product, cannot praise it enough in comparison to several other brands I have owned. If you're looking for top quality, this is the one for you AND at a greatly reduced price into the bargain! Excellent piece of kit.
